Fairphone releases Android 11 upgrade for 3 and 3+ phones
Fairphone has started distributing the Android 11 upgrade for the Fairphone 3 and 3+ models. These devices were released in 2019 and 2020 respectively. The manufacturer does not talk about additional features with the Android 11 upgrade.
on his forum speaks Fairphone about a phased rollout and users will automatically receive a notification when they can update. By May 13, users who don’t want to wait for this should be able to download the Android 11 upgrade through a support page. In addition to the Android 11 upgrade, the update includes the April security patch.
The Fairphone 3 was released in 2019 and then cost 450 euros. The phone has a Snapdragons 632-soc, 4GB memory and 64GB storage. There is also a 12-megapixel sensor on the back and a 3000mAh battery. A year later, the Fairphone 3+ appeared. This upgraded phone was 20 euros more expensive than the 3 when it was introduced, and it got a better camera, among other things.
Since September, Fairphone no longer produces the 3. Then the company already indicated that an Android 11 upgrade was coming. Fairphone also continues to sell spare parts for the 3. The 3+ is still for sale.
Google’s Pixel smartphones were the first phones to get Android 11 in 2020. This upgrade includes chat bubbles that should make multitasking easier and the option of screen recordings. There are also more extensive privacy and data controls in the operating system.
