Factorio exits Early Access on September 25, 2020
The makers of Factorio plan to release a 1.0 version of the game on September 25, 2020. The game has been available since 2016, but is still in Early Access. A number of new people have been recruited to complete the game.
So far, Factorio’s developers have never mentioned a release date for a final version. Now they do, because they feel that otherwise they will continue to improve ‘probably forever’.
According to the makers, the current version is already a pretty good game and it wouldn’t be a disaster if it was released as a 1.0 version. However, the team is giving itself until the end of September next year to make improvements. After the release of Factorio 1.0, the team will continue to support the game. The developers then want to focus on adding new content and new functionality after some rest.
The Czech developer says that a lot of new people have been hired recently. In total, the team working on the game now consists of 20 people. Recently a sound designer has been added, and reinforcement for the team that makes the graphics.
Factorio has been in development since 2012 and available through Early Access since 2016. It is an open world game where players crash onto a planet and build an industry on it to eventually create a rocket. The game has single player and multiplayer modes.
