Facebook wants to merge message platforms: WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger

Spread the love

Facebook intends to merge the various message platforms so that users can easily communicate with each other. The company starts with end-to-end encryption for Instagram messages, after which it will also roll out for Facebook Messenger. In WhatsApp, all messages are already provided with end-to-end encryption as standard. With the end-to-end encryption, the calls are protected for the company or for example the government.

Making communication easier

In The New York Times Facebook said that through this integration the underlying infrastructure of the three messaging services could communicate more easily. It is the intention that the apps remain separate from each other. It is also easier for users to communicate with each other via the apps. This way, for example, an Instagram user can send someone without Instagram via WhatsApp a message. Instagram and WhatsApp account for 1 billion and 1.5 billion users respectively.
