Facebook to improve ranking of comments on posts posts
Facebook has adjusted the algorithms that determine which comments deserve a more visible place among posts. As a result, reactions that are relevant to the user should be more prominent.
In a post on its website, Facebook states that the new algorithms have improved the ranking of comments under posts. Among other things, it is now checked whether a comment has been posted by a friend of the user; in that case it will be higher in the ranking. Also comments to which the original poster responds are more highly valued.
The changes apply to pages, as well as users with many followers. The latter often have posts with a large number of comments, with Facebook showing the highest-rated comments by default. Previously, this was based on, for example, the number of likes a response received.
Pages and users where ranking is automatically turned on have the option to turn it off again. Users for whom ranking is not enabled by default can choose to enable this in their settings.
