Facebook tests dark mode in app with more users
Facebook is testing the dark mode in its own app with more users, Android Police reports based on tips. Since Wednesday night, the site has been getting a lot more reports from users encountering dark mode in the Facebook app.
The article from Android Police also contains more screenshots of the dark mode. This shows that in the current test, users see a white bar with tabs at the top, but all posts are in a section with a dark background. It is unknown if that will be the final look of the dark mode.
Facebook already showed the dark mode for desktops. The company is also working on a dark interface for Instagram and the function is in the most recent beta of WhatsApp. Facebook Messenger got the dark variant earlier. The steps follow after Google and Apple announced they would add dark mode to their mobile operating systems. Google put a dark mode in Android 10, which came out last summer. The dark mode is also in Apple’s iOS 13, which appeared at the end of September.
