Facebook test function for adding music to photos and videos

Facebook is testing a function to add music to images in the News Feed or Stories on the social network. This works via a sticker on the photo that shows the artist and the title, the company states.

The test will start next week with a limited number of people worldwide, Facebook tells Engadget. Those users will be given the option to see a music sticker when uploading. After choosing which one, they get to choose from a number of songs. The testers then choose the correct part from the song and add it to the photo or video.

Facebook does not say how many people can test the function, but mentions that it is a limited number. The social network has partnered with record labels Warner, Universal and Sony to use a collection of songs. The feature is called Lip Sync Live. Facebook also announced such a feature in May, but then it would only come in Stories. It is now clear that the test also takes place in the Facebook news feed.
