Facebook test feed for festival report

Facebook has started testing a service that allows users to follow updates, photos and videos from a festival or other live events. Currently, many people follow events through competitors like Twitter.

The function is located under Place Tips, a function that has been around for some time and that gives users information about the current location. With Place Tips Lollapalooza, users could follow the American festival Lollapalooza remotely for the first time, reports business newspaper The Wall Street Journal based on information from Facebook itself.

The feed contains photos and videos from visitors and information about the schedule, updates from playing bands and more. It was a test and it is unknown if and when Facebook plans to introduce the feature at other live events. Many users now follow events via Snapchat or via hashtag search on Twitter. Both social media will come with functions in the near future to better monitor events remotely.
