Facebook stops offering games via Messenger

Facebook is going to remove support for games from its messenger service. Instead, they are housed under the Facebook Gaming tab. The change is to be implemented “later this summer.”

Facebook announced the change via a post on its blog. The so-called Instant Games will soon no longer be directly playable via Messenger. Instead, users should go to the Facebook Gaming tab. That is the central place for Facebook games that the company released earlier this year.

The games are planned to be unplayable via Messenger later this summer, but Facebook has not released an exact date for the transition. The company does promise that players who now play a game via Messenger will not be closed; the game remains accessible, while the gameplay itself moves from location.

To make it easy for players to make the switch, Facebook users will receive notifications with the steps to take before the move. Facebook will also ask players for feedback.
