Facebook starts rolling out blog functionality

Spread the love

Facebook has given its existing Notes functionality a new look, making it look like a blogging service. There are also ‘blog-like’ functionalities, such as adding a cover photo and inserted photos with captions.

The Notes updates have been made public by Facebook through its blog. According to the social networking site, users can now add headers, quotes or bullet points to their notes. The whole can be placed within an interface similar to that of a blogging service. It is also possible to place a cover photo above the text and photos can also be placed within the text, with or without captions.

The new way of taking notes works on the web version of Facebook, but not on mobiles yet. However, mobile users can see the Notes created. It is not clear whether making blog posts via Notes will come to mobile phones at a later stage.

Notes are available at the url www.facebook.com/notes. However, the service may not be available to everyone yet: the rollout is being phased, so it may take some time before all users will see the new features. With the update, Facebook probably hopes that taking notes or blog posts will become more popular. The rollout was preceded by a short test phase.
