Facebook partially allows ads related to cryptocurrencies again
Facebook has changed its policy on advertising related to cryptocurrency. In February, the social network banned such advertising. Approved advertisers are now allowed to advertise again, as long as they are not initial coin offerings.
Not all companies are allowed to advertise cryptocurrencies or related services, according to the new rules, this is only allowed after special approval. Advertisers can submit a request for this to Facebook. In the form, Facebook reports that it can request licenses or other relevant background information about the company that wants to advertise.
Now that Facebook is once again making it possible to place ads related to cryptocurrency, exchanges, for example, can again advertise their services. In January, Facebook imposed a total ban on all cryptocurrency-related advertising.
Facebook imposed the ban at the time because ads related to cryptocurrencies were often misleading or offered products “in bad faith”. Also with the new rules it is not allowed to place ads promoting binary options or ICOs.
In March, Google also announced a ban on cryptocurrency advertising. That ban only came into effect this month. Since the end of March, there has also been a ban on cryptocurrency advertising on Twitter.
