Facebook Messenger is testing temporarily visible photo and video collage sharing

Facebook is building a new feature in its Messenger service that will make it possible to collage a series of photos and videos and then edit them. Shared collages can only be seen for a day, after which they disappear.

The feature is called Messenger Day, and seems to be intended to provide an overview of what the user has experienced in a day. For this, photos and videos can be used that can be edited, for example by providing them with text, stickers and emoticons. Once shared with friends, these collages are only visible for 24 hours, after which they disappear again.

Messenger Day is currently being tested in Poland, and therefore only available on a limited basis. This is a small test, a Facebook spokesperson told Engadget. However, the company does not want to lose anything, so it is still unclear when Messenger Day will come to other countries.

Facebook seems to have copied the new functionality from Snapchat, which already offers similar functionality with Stories. It’s not the first time the social networking site has turned to Snapchat for new functionality. Incidentally, Facebook has also tried to take over Snapchat. That was in 2013 and it involved an amount of $3 billion, which was rejected by Snapchat.
