Facebook may start ‘marking read invitations’

A Facebook spokesperson told The Daily Dot that the “possibility of showing the organizer and guests who has or has not seen the invitation within private events” is being investigated.

That writes The Daily Dot who, following a tweet asked for a response from Facebook. If asked, the Facebook spokesperson could report that the function is being experimented with. Check marks that indicate whether or not someone has received, seen or read something are common in various chat applications. Facebook Messenger uses it, but also services such as Whatsapp and Telegram.

For example, the function cannot be turned off in Facebook Messenger, both in group chat and individual conversations, although there are ways to more or less turn it off. Also with this new checkmark service there seems to be no official possibility to circumvent it. Perhaps in the future, a similar feature will come to friend requests, messages to friends on their wall, and maybe even comments delivered. The last possible expansion options of the check marks have not been confirmed by Facebook.
