Facebook makes status updates searchable

Facebook has made it possible to search its website for specific status updates. This should make it easier to find posts. It was already possible to search for people and pages, for example.

The revamped search feature should be available this week to users who set Facebook to US English, the company behind the popular social networking site has said. When the search for status updates will become possible for others has not been announced, but the feature will probably be available to everyone soon. The search function for mobile phones is also provided with the option to search for posts: the iPhone app will be updated this week. It is still unclear when other platforms will follow.

According to Facebook, the search of posts has been made possible because many users have requested it. It was already possible to search for people and pages, but posted content could not yet be retrieved via the search engine. As usual, only search results that have been shared with the user are shown.
