Facebook makes hiding likes available to all Instagram users
All Instagram users can now hide likes. Both likes on messages from third parties and likes on your own photos can be hidden. Facebook will get a similar feature in the coming weeks.
Instagram has a global setting in the settings menu to hide likes from other people’s posts. You can also indicate per message not to show the likes. If users do not want to see the number of likes and views on their own posts, they can indicate this during the posting in the advanced settings.
According to Facebook, the settings will be available to all users from Wednesday. It is always possible to re-enable the display of likes, even if you first chose not to show likes with a message. On Facebook itself, hiding likes is not yet available to all users, but “in the coming weeks” the social network will have the same options as Instagram.
Facebook has long been testing features to hide likes on Instagram and Facebook. At the end of 2019, the company started a global test on Instagram and that same year, it was tested in Australia with hiding likes on Facebook.
