Facebook is working on a way to post status updates with voice messages, called Voice Clips. For the time being, the new way of posting is kept limited available, by initially only testing it in India.

A number of users of the social networking site had already announced that they had discovered the new feature, after which a Facebook spokesperson confirmed this to TechCrunch. According to the company, Voice Clips is a new way for users to express themselves.

Users who already have access to the new functionality can choose Voice Clip in the menu when posting a status update. After that, there is the option to record an audio message, which can then be posted on Facebook. An accompanying text can also be added. Audio messages can be as long as the user wants, according to TechCrunch, or until the storage memory on the smartphone is full.

For now, Voice Clips is only available to a small part of Facebook users, and only in India. It is not clear when the functionality will become more widely available; The spokesperson has not released anything about this.
