Facebook is testing food ordering function
Facebook appears to have plans to allow users to order food within its website. An opportunity to do so was recently discovered among a number of Facebook users. For now, it seems to be a small-scale test.
TechCrunch is reporting the new functionality in Facebook, which would have appeared to ‘selected’ users, both on the desktop version and in the mobile app. An option has appeared in the options menu to order food via food order sites delivery.com and Slice. There is therefore only support for US customers.
The option to order food works entirely through the Facebook site itself. Food can be selected and paid directly. There is also the possibility to adjust orders and possibly give a tip.
For now, Facebook seems to see the new functionality as a test. It is only available to few users yet and the social media site itself has not paid attention to the introduction. New features are regularly tested, so it is not clear whether Facebook will actually expand this among its users.
Facebook has been working with delivery.com and Slice for some time. There was already an opportunity for Americans to start orders from the Facebook page of a restaurant that is affiliated with one of the two services. Full integration within the social network was not yet available.
