Facebook, Instagram and Tinder are down – update 2
Facebook and its subsidiary Instagram are experiencing an outage. A number of other websites and apps, such as Tinder and Hipchat, are also experiencing problems. The problems appear to be global, but a cause is still unclear.
Internet users worldwide have been complaining since Tuesday morning between a quarter past seven and seven thirty about the accessibility problems of Facebook, Instagram, Tinder, the business chat app Hipchat and AOL Instant Messenger. It is unknown what is causing the problems.
There may be a connection between the accessibility problems. It is striking that the error message differs: anyone who tries to reach Facebook gets a time-out, while a visit to Facebook’s daughter Instagram results in a white page. WhatsApp, also a Facebook subsidiary, is not experiencing any problems.

Update, 09:55: Facebook says the downtime was caused by a change to its systems. So, according to Facebook, the problems are not caused by a ddos. earlier demanded hacker group Lizard Squad, which was also behind the defacement of Malaysia Airlines, the downtime.
