Facebook has 1.5 billion active users
Facebook, in announcing its quarterly results, said it has approximately 1.5 billion users who log into the social networking site each month. Of these, nearly a billion are active every day. In financial terms, the company saw its turnover rise sharply.
The figures are in the overview of the past quarter that Facebook has released. In the past year, the number of users who log in to the site at least once a month grew by 13 percent, to a number of 1.49 billion. The number of mobile users rose even faster, increasing by 23 percent to a number of 1.31 billion people. Facebook has been betting big on mobile users for some time and is trying to increase its advertising revenues, among other things.
Facebook also shows strong growth figures for daily active users. For example, the number of users of Facebook on PC and mobile increased by 17 and 29 percent, respectively. User numbers were 968 million and 844 million respectively.
Growth figures were also recorded in the financial area. Turnover increased by 39 percent compared to the same period last year to 4.04 billion dollars, or about 3.7 billion euros. The increased revenue is mainly due to advertising, with a 43 percent increase in sales. Facebook also struggled with sharply rising costs, which ultimately resulted in a lower profit than the same period last year: 719 million dollars compared to 791 million dollars.
