Facebook allows streaming to site from any device with video API

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced at the annual F8 conference that the social network wants to make available a video API that will allow live video to be streamed directly to the site from any device.

With this he wants to make it possible for users to capture images not only from a smartphone, but also with a drone, for example. To demonstrate this, Zuckerberg himself had a drone take off, which then sent images from the room to Facebook.

The Facebook CEO also announced other plans from the company. For example, it should become possible to communicate with companies via the Messenger service. In that case, the user interacts with a chatbot, which can perform various tasks. These bots will soon be able to be built by developers within the Messenger app. They can use the Bot Engine, with which Facebook enables bots to improve themselves and learn through artificial intelligence.

Finally, the social network wants to get rid of passwords with a technique called ‘Account Kit’. This makes it possible to log in to a service with only a telephone number or an e-mail address. Once a user has entered one of these details, they will receive a confirmation message via SMS or email. It is not necessary to have a Facebook account to use this feature; the company makes the software available to developers of other apps and services.
