Experts: New programming languages are loved by malware makers
New programming languages are useful not only for ‘normal’ software developers, but also for malware creators. Some languages lend themselves better to this than others, for example because they are more difficult to detect. That doesn’t necessarily have to be a big danger, experts at DefCon say.
Cas van Cooten is a security researcher and specializes, among other things, in Nim, a statically typed programming language that is syntax similar to Python. During a presentation at the hacker conference DefCon, he talks about his experiences with the language, but also about the trend that he has recently seen. That trend is that malware makers are increasingly using relatively new programming languages, such as Nim. They have advantages over classical languages such as Python and they are sometimes difficult to detect.
