EVLeaks has revealed details of the Xperia XZ2 and the Xperia XZ2 Compact and published an image of the XZ2. Sony’s upcoming high-end smartphone is characterized by thinner screen edges compared to previous Xperias.

In addition, the corners are less sharp and the back has a slight curvature, which previous photos and a teaser from Sony also hinted at. Both the thinner bezels at the top and bottom of the screen and a less rectangular design are new to Sony’s Xperia line. The Xperia XZ2 has a 5.7″ screen and the Compact edition has a 5″ screen.

In both cases, according to Evan Blass of EVLeaks, it concerns LCDs with a 1080p resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass 5. Both devices would also have a 19-megapixel camera with f/1.8 lens. The cameras are capable of recording 4k video with HDR and they support so-called super slow motion recordings. At the back is the fingerprint reader and the processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. The devices have stereo speakers on the front.

There is a difference in the battery capacity. That of the XZ2 is 3180mAh and this smartphone supports wireless charging. The XZ2 Compact has to do with a battery capacity of 2870mAh and can only be charged via USB-C. This Sunday, Sony will probably officially unveil the smartphones at the start of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
