EvLeaks: OnePlus will present 5T smartphone with 18:9 screen at the end of November
OnePlus will arrive at the end of November with a OnePlus 5T smartphone with an 18:9 screen, according to telecom journalist Evan Blass, also known by his Twitter name EvLeaks. Rumors of such a device have been going around before.
It would be the second year in a row that OnePlus comes with a T version of its device, although there is a clear difference. Last year’s OnePlus 3T did not or hardly differ from the OnePlus 3 in terms of screen and design, but the 5T would get an 18:9 display, compared to a 16:9 screen of the OnePlus 5. The longer screen makes a new design necessary.
OnePlus would like to present and release the device between 20 and 30 November, claims Blass based on two anonymous sources. Blass has an impeccable track record of smartphone rumors and is often the first to release new phone renders. He has not published a render of this device. Android Authority did that before, although it is impossible to determine whether that render indeed displays the OnePlus 5T.
If OnePlus comes with a device with an 18:9 screen, there is a good chance that it will be a 6″ panel. The diagonal of 6″ is an extended version of a 5.5″ panel with 16:9 ratio In addition, some of those panels are in mass production. Japan Display has an LCD with that size, while Samsung supplies an OLED panel to Huawei for the Mate 10 Pro. OnePlus uses on Samsung’s 5, 3T and 3 OLED panels. OnePlus presented its most recent smartphones this summer.
