Evleaks: Huawei also comes with Mate 10 Lite
According to smartphone insider Evan Blass, Huawei will come with at least three variants of the Mate 10 smartphone. In addition to the regular version and the Pro model, there will be a Lite variant. Blass mentions a fourth code name, but it is unclear whether that also concerns a Mate 10 model.
On his Twitter account @evleaks reports Evan Blass that Rhone is the codename for the Mate 10 Lite and he shows a crop of a render that has that name on it. He also mentions the code names Blanc, Alps and Marcel. The first two would be the names for the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro, with Marcel Blass himself still has a question mark.
earlier noticed Evan Blass points out that the device with 18:9 screen and two dual cameras, of which photos appeared last week, may be the Mate 10 Lite. That device has a 6″ screen with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels and probably a Kirin 960-soc.
A photo has appeared on the Chinese website Mydrivers that would show the glass of the regular Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro. If they are actually parts of these devices, then the Pro version will probably get a slightly larger screen and a fingerprint scanner at the back, because there is no room for it in the ‘chin’ of the device. The regular Mate 10 will have a fingerprint scanner on the front, which was also apparent from a photo that appeared online on Wednesday.
Huawei announced during the IFA fair in early September that the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be equipped with the Kirin 970-soc, which has its own ‘ai chip’. Huawei will officially announce its new top model on October 16. It is not known whether the Mate 10 Lite will also be announced. Huawei has often quietly released a Lite version of its Mate model at a later date.
