EVGA Releases 80Plus Gold Power Supplies in New GQ Series
EVGA introduces four semi-modular power supplies with an 80Plus Gold certificate. Variants of 650, 750, 850 and 1000 Watt appear in the new GQ series. The manufacturer uses Japanese capacitors of the Nippon Chemi-con brand.
The new power supplies are largely modular, only the 24-pin atx connector is attached to the housing. All power supplies in the GQ series achieve an efficiency of 90 percent or greater under high load conditions. That earns them the 80Plus Gold certificate. There is a single 12V line that can supply up to 83.3A with the 1000Watt version.
EVGA provides the power supplies with a 135mm fan, according to the manufacturer it is completely silent at low to medium load. The fan starts running at 30 or 40 percent load, depending on the model. EVGA provides a five-year warranty on the power supplies.
In the US, the EVGA GQ power supplies are available for 90, 120, 130 and 160 dollars. Those are the prices of the 650W, 750W, 850W and 1000W versions respectively. Recommended retail prices in euros have not yet been announced.
