EVGA Introduces GTX 980 for Overclockers – Update
EVGA has announced the GeForce GTX 980 K|NGP|N. The video card has a 14+3-phase power supply and an ACX 2.0 cooler, with which overclockers should be able to significantly increase the clock speed.
The EVGA card was developed in collaboration with overclocker Vince ‘K|NGP|N’ Lucido and the card bears his name. The card has a 14+3 phase power supply and the digitally managed VRM can deliver up to 600 amps, which is achieved by two 8-pin and one 6-pin inputs.
EVGA has equipped the card with its ACX 2.0 cooler with two fans and placed it in a metal case. Inside the housing are LEDs whose colors can be set by the user with EVGA’s PrecisionX 16 tool. According to the maker, the PCB has twelve layers and extra copper and there are thermal sensors for overclocking. The manufacturer also supplies single-slot brackets.
By default, the core clock is set to 1291MHz, at a Boost Clock of 1393MHz, but the intent is to allow the user to boost it significantly. The memory clock speed is effectively 7010MHz. The price is unknown at the time of writing.
Update, 10.30: The suggested retail price is 749.99 euros.
