EVGA has indicated that all users who have problems with their GTX 1070 and 1080 cards can get free thermal stickers. The offer follows complaints that certain parts of the video cards can become very hot.

Users are complaining on EVGA’s forum that their cards are overheating. They refer to a round-up of the 1070 and 1080 on the German branch of Tom’s Hardware. In a test, the website shows that the map can reach or exceed temperatures of 100 degrees at certain points during a stress test with Furmark.

According to EVGA, the temperatures remain within safe limits. The company has tried to come up with solutions to bring the temperatures down. By applying some thermal stickers, the company managed to reduce the maximum temperature during a stress test by twenty degrees. The stickers are applied between the backplate and the printed circuit board and between the baseplate and the cooling block. This allows the baseplate to serve as a heat spreader for the VRM.

People who have purchased the video cards can request such stickers from EVGA for free. The users can then apply the stickers themselves. The company also promises to partner with Tom’s Hardware to conduct a new test.
