EVGA announces HB-sli bridges for GTX 1000 GPUs
Under the name Pro SLI Bridge HB, EVGA has announced four sli bridges that use Nvidia’s new high bandwidth protocol. The logo on top of the bridges is equipped with LEDs and can be displayed in red, green, blue or white.
The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 can be used with existing sli bridges, but the new HB variants offer higher bandwidth. According to EVGA, this can provide better frame pacing, especially in setups with multiple screens.
The company shows on its forum an example of Shadow of Mordor played at a resolution of 11520×2160 pixels. The arrangement of two GTX 1080 GPUs creates more consistent frame times with the HB bridge. According to Nvidia, an HB bridge is not necessary up to a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels at 60Hz. At higher frame rates or resolutions, the higher bandwidth should be beneficial.
EVGA comes with four different bridges. All support up to two GeForce GTX cards, but the spacing between the connectors is different. For example, setups can be made with 0, 1, 2 or 4 PCIe slots of ‘spacing’ between the two video cards. A euro price is not yet known, but EVGA has the new sli bridges on its website for a suggested retail price of $39.99 each.
