Everspace 2 will leave early access on April 6 and come to consoles this summer
Developer Rockfish Games will officially release Everspace 2 on April 6 after it has been available in early access for almost two years. An Xbox Series and a PlayStation 5 version will also be released this summer. The game will no longer be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The German developer says that the game is now good enough for full release and will therefore remove the game from early access on April 6. Since its release as early access on Steam, among others, the space game has received six major updates, with improved gameplay, interface, graphics, features and additional content.
If the game leaves early access, the asking price will increase from 38 to 50 euros. The game will receive more enemies, equipment and improved cinematics in the 1.0 update, in addition to bug fixes. After releasing the game, the developer plans to release additional updates and paid DLC. Rockfish CEO Michael Schade tells IGN that the game will no longer come to the last-gen consoles, because the developer would have to downscale the game too much. The developer will give Kickstarter backers their money back if they insisted on playing it on those consoles.
The first Everspace game was released in May 2017 for the Xbox One and PC. That game was a single-player game with procedurally generated levels and roguelike elements. Everspace 2 is more of an open world shooter with RPG elements.
