Eurocom equips laptop with Core i7-6700K and full GTX 980 GPU
Canadian Eurocom has introduced a 17.3″ laptop that can be equipped with a Core i7-6700K desktop processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 with 2048 cuda cores and 8GB GDDR5 memory.
The Intel Core i7-6700K processor in the laptop has a maximum turbo speed of 4.2GHz. The Sky X9 uses the Z170 chipset, which makes overclocking possible. There is room for four ddr4 memory sticks with a total maximum capacity of 64GB.
As far as GPUs are concerned, you can choose from an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M, two 980Ms in sli, or a full-fledged GTX 980 with 2048 cuda cores and 8GB gddr5 memory. That’s twice as much memory as the desktop version of the GTX 980. The extra vram comes in handy for gamers who choose the version with the 4k screen. Eurocom supplies the laptop with a 17.3″ panel with 1080p resolution as standard. Both screens are matte, use IPS technology and support Nvidia G-Sync.
Two sata3 HDDs or SSDs fit in the housing, in addition there are two m2-pcie slots, which can be used for a raid setup of m2 SSDs. Two speakers and a subwoofer from Onkyo are built into the housing, which weighs 4.8 kg.
Prices start at about 2700 euros. For that amount, buyers get the base model with 1080p screen, GTX 980M, 8GB DDR4 and a 1TB HDD or 128GB SSD. Those who configure the Sky X9 with the maximum specifications pay more than 6000 euros.
