Essential Phone stops selling PH1 smartphone
The Essential Phone is no longer in production, causing sales to stop. The PH1 smartphone is already no longer for sale on its own website and the company has confirmed that it is working on a new model that should take over the sale.
The website Droid Life noted that the Essential Phone, or the PH1, is no longer available. When asked, the manufacturer said in a statement to 9To5Google that the smartphone is indeed sold out, and that no new stock will be delivered. With that, the sale of the Essential Phone has effectively ended.
As a reason for the discontinuation of production, the company states that a successor is being worked on. However, accessories for the PH1 will remain available for the time being, and software updates will be released.
What the successor of the first Essential Phone will look like, the company did not disclose. Some time ago there were rumors that work is being done on a device with artificial intelligence and voice control. Furthermore, the screen would be ‘small’, but it is unclear what the screen diagonal is exactly.
