Essential Phone camera accessory can stream 360-degree video to social media
The Essential Phone gets an update that makes it possible to stream 360-degree video to Facebook and YouTube with the camera accessory. The new functionality will be available through a software update for the camera application.
According to Essential, founded by Android pioneer Andy Rubin, a software update released with version number 0.1.091 for the PH-1 smartphone. Those who have the optional camera module, which can be attached to the smartphone, can stream 360-degree video with the new software. That is possible on YouTube, but it is also possible to stream 360-degree video via Facebook Live.
Essential has been improving its camera software for some time now. The company has been criticized for the poor quality of the camera, which is why at the end of last month an update was released to take pictures in portrait mode, and a different way of using jpeg compression to improve the quality of the pictures. .
In the middle of last month, a beta was released that brings Android 8 to the PH1 smartphone. Users can install it by putting their device in recovery mode and installing it on the device via adb. However, the update for the camera software is separate from this.
