Epic Games will develop and offer parental control tools following the acquisition of SuperAwesome, a company that specializes in creating such software. Epic says little else about what that will look like.

SuperAwesome makes the toolkit for toy brands such as LEGO and Hasbro to allow children to safely use software that includes parental controls and now Epic is taking over that entire company. Both companies do not say anything about the acquisition amount.

Both companies promise to build more tools that others can use to put parental control systems in apps and games. SuperAwesome wanted to independently generate between $ 80 and $ 90 million in revenue by 2020. That revenue comes from about 300 customers using the software, for apps and games that a total of 500 million children use worldwide, the company says.

Epic does not say anything about which services it wants to offer after the acquisition. Epic has extensive experience with children and microtransactions thanks to the success of Fortnite, which appealed to young players, among others.
