Epic Games Publishing has announced that it has entered into agreements with Remedy Entertainment, Playdead and gen Design to publish upcoming games from those development studios.
Epic becomes the publisher of two unannounced games from Remedy. Together with Playdead and Gen Design, these are the first studios to join Epic’s new multi-platform publishing platform. The game company reports that developers retain all intellectual property on their work, while Epic Games Publishing takes care of the entire development, marketing and publishing costs. Once the revenues from the games are enough to cover the costs, the studios will receive half of the further profits, Epic further promises.
Epic doesn’t say anything about exclusivity for its Epic Games Store, but Remedy’s game Control did appear exclusively on that game store. Gen Design is the studio of Fumito Ueda, the director and lead designer for Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian. Playdead has created the puzzle platformer Inside and Limbo, among others.
