Epic Games CEO Expresses Support for GeForce Now

After the withdrawal of 2K, Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, Epic Games is expressing its support for Nvidia’s GeForce Now service. Epic founder Tim Sweeney believes that these kinds of services lead to a ‘healthier gaming industry’.

Sweeney suggested Saturday on Twitter that Fortnite will just continue to work with GeForce Now and that Epic will even make sure the integration improves. Epic Games does not offer many other titles besides Fortnite. As for Epic Store titles from other developers, however, he can make no promises.

The Epic CEO also takes the opportunity to express his dissatisfaction with the mandatory revenue sharing on platforms such as iOS and Google Play, and the blocking of such game streaming services. He is referring to not allowing, for example, Google Stadia on iOS. Epic Games itself has also turned its back on Google Play and Steam.

Nvidia GeForce Now recently came out of beta and is now offered with a free trial version and a paid version of 5.49 euros per month. The service supports platforms such as Steam, uPlay, the Epic Games Store and Battle.net. Gamers still have to buy their games on those platforms, but after that they can play them on any device running the GeForce Now client.

For no reason, 2K Games, Bethesda Softworks, and Activision Blizzard pulled their games from GeForce Now in recent weeks. Those are three big parties, with games in their offer such as Borderlands 3, the upcoming Doom Eternal and Overwatch. The Verge has written an extensive backstory on this phenomenon.
