Epic appears to have paid 9.49 million euros for exclusivity Control
The Italian game company Digital Bros has received 9.49 million euros from Epic for Control in the period before June 2019. It therefore appears that this is the amount paid for the exclusive distribution of the PC version on the Epic Games Store.
Digital Bros, parent company of Control publisher 505 Games, mentions the amount of 9.49 million euros in an explanation of its annual figures. The document is in Italian, an English version has not yet been made available. The company says that “sales realized on the Epic Games marketplace relate to the revenues derived from the PC version of the video game Control.”
The Windows version of Control is available exclusively on the Epic Games Store, but sales didn’t begin until late August. 505 Games has been taking pre-orders since March, but it’s not common for companies to count them as revenue. It therefore seems that Epic has paid 9.49 million euros for the exclusivity of Control, concludes DSO Gaming, for example. Until now, little was known about the amounts that Epic pays for exclusivity. For example, it is not known what the company pays to be able to offer Borderlands 3 exclusively.
Incidentally, the document also states that a mobile version of the Assetto Corsa racing software is being worked on. It will be available exclusively on Apple Arcade, the game service for Apple products.
