Entroware brings gaming laptop with Ubuntu or Ubuntu Mate in England
The British Entroware has launched a powerful laptop with Ubuntu or Ubuntu Mate as the operating system by default. The laptop is also available without OS. The cheapest version of the Athena laptop costs 1099 pounds, currently about 1400 euros.
The Athena is available in variants with a 15″ or 17″ IPS screen. The screen is controlled by an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M with 6GB or 980M with 8GB of video memory. For the CPU, you can choose from an Intel Core i7-6700HQ at 2.6GHz or a Core i7-6820HK at 2.7GHz.
The device comes with up to 64GB ddr4 ram at 2133MHz. The choice for internal storage is wide: from hard disk to SSD, ranging from a 500GB or 1TB hard drive or a 120GB to 2TB Samsung EVO SSD. In total there is room for two disks or SSDs and two M2 SSDs with capacities up to 480GB each.
Entroware supplies standard equipment with a large number of ports, including four USB 3.0 ports, two mini display ports, with version 1.2 of that protocol, hdmi, gigabit ethernet, a headphone and microphone jack, spdif and a 6-in-1 card reader.
The battery has a capacity of 60Wh and is held together in an aluminum housing. The 15″ version measures 38.5×27.1×2.5 centimeters and the 17″ version measures 41.7×28.7x3cm. They weigh 2.5 and 3.2 kilograms respectively. The price of the most expensive version is 3048.94 pounds or about 3850 euros.
At the moment the laptop only ships within the UK or Ireland.
