Eneco is again struggling with Toon application failure due to server problems
The malfunction in Toon’s app, Eneco’s smart thermostat, has not yet been resolved. In the same forum post as last week, an update was posted stating that “unfortunately the issues are still current”.
Eneco seems to have little control over the problem. On October 13, the company spoke of an approach that “appears to be working” and by the 20th the problem was “virtually solved.” Now it seems to be back to normal. There is no indication of how long it will take before the problems are really fixed. On Friday, Eneco concluded its most recent update with ‘we are working on it’.
The customers on the forum are now very dissatisfied. One of them says that the thermostat has been set to too high a temperature due to the malfunction. The person concerned is on vacation and cannot now remotely adjust Toon downwards due to the malfunction.
Previous written updates by Eneco personnel would indicate that the problem lies with the Eneco servers. The smart thermostat and the applications communicate with each other through these servers instead of directly. The company’s eight servers exchange active sessions with each other so that an app continues to work even if the session is shifted from one server to another due to load balancing. However, the servers have stopped exchanging sessions, leading to an extraordinary amount of client login attempts and “a four to eight times higher load.”
