Eneco now also offers its ‘smart’ thermostat and energy meter Toon to non-customers. The device from the energy supplier is sold for at least 275 euros. In addition, a monthly subscription can be purchased for more features.

It is the first time that Eneco has also sold Toon to customers of other energy providers, after it was announced earlier that the company was planning to do so. The energy supplier reports that Coolblue is the first store where the meter will be for sale. It is not yet known which other stores will follow.

If you are not an Eneco customer and want to hang Toon on his wall, you have to pay 275 euros for the device. For that money, an Eneco technician will also come by and install the thermostat. After installation, Toon can handle a central heating boiler more efficiently and modulate it by turning it up or down. The energy meter also ‘learns’ from its use in the house and applies this knowledge.

Eneco warns that Toon does not immediately work the same for non-customers. To be able to use all features, a monthly subscription must be purchased from the energy supplier. Only then are functions such as real-time insight into electricity and gas consumption and operating Toon via apps possible. Also, updates can only be installed with a subscription. A subscription costs 4.95 euros per month and can be canceled within one month.

Toon uses a WiFi connection. Eneco regularly expands the features and user applications by means of updates. For example, it added support for solar energy, so that households with solar panels can also monitor the yield of their photovoltaic installation.
