Elon Musk trolls dox Twitter employees

Trolls linked to Tesla and SpaceX frontman Elon Musk are putting private data of Twitter employees online unsolicited, according to Platformer. This form of harassment, doxing, follows Musk’s agreement to take over Twitter earlier this week.

The doxing follows replies to tweets from Musk or employees who openly say they will be looking for a new job after the acquisition, reports Platformer. Author Casey Newton, who has been writing about online platforms for years and has many resources within companies, writes that it involves at least ‘a dozen’ employees. Twitter has a total of thousands of employees.

The doxing by trolls comes after Musk and the company’s board reached an agreement for Musk’s acquisition of Twitter earlier this week. Musk has also criticized several top people of Twitter in tweets this week. That’s unusual, because he could fire them as new owners once the takeover is complete. Musk’s plans for looser moderation on Twitter have also already received criticism from the EU.

Musk buys Twitter for about $41 billion. It is still unknown what exactly he wants with the platform, except that he wants to relax the moderation rules and ban spambots. Musk is currently the president of automaker Tesla and aerospace company SpaceX.
