According to Bloomberg Musk still wants to pay $44 billion for Twitter. Musk would have sent a letter to the board of Twitter with his proposal. Trading in Twitter’s stock was halted on Tuesday, as the price rose quickly after the rumours. Neither Twitter nor Elon Musk have officially announced anything yet.
Musk made an offer of $44 billion in April, which was accepted by Twitter. Musk then wanted to pull out of the deal, as many bot accounts would be active on Twitter and the company would not have been transparent enough about this. Twitter, in turn, announced that it would like to keep Musk to his offer.
Update 9.45 pm: Twitter has announced that it has indeed received the letter from Elon Musk and that Musk wants to take over the company for its original offer of $54.20 a share.
