Elite: Dangerous testers can’t ask for a refund after offline mode is cancelled
Frontier states that gamers who have already played Elite: Dangerous online in the alpha or beta are no longer eligible for a refund. The developer makes that clear in response to questions raised about the cancellation of the game’s offline mode.
Frontier has clear guidelines when it comes to refunds, the developer describes. In response to questions that Frontier has received, two scenarios are outlined: people can only request a refund if they have purchased the game through an online store and have not played the game yet.
Anyone who has already played the alpha or beta online will be left out. It makes no difference, according to Frontier, whether the gamer contributed to the Kickstarter campaign. The developer leaves little room for misunderstanding by saying that that group is simply not eligible for a refund. It is unclear why a distinction is made between the two groups. However, Frontier claims to handle all cases thoroughly.
The report follows news that Frontier will not offer an offline mode in the crowdfunded game Elite: Dangerous. The developer believes that such a mode would be unacceptably limited and too static compared to the online variant. There will be a single player, but it does require an online connection.
