Elgato has announced the 4K60 S+, an external capture card that can record 4K images at 60fps to an SD card, without having to connect it directly to a PC. Live streaming is possible in combination with a PC.

A minimum of 256GB UHS Class Speed 3 / V30 SD card is required. There is also an audio input. However, the card cannot process higher frame rates than 60fps, even at resolutions lower than 4k.

The card uses hevc/h265 hdr and avc/h264 encoding. The accessory contains HDMI in and out and two USB 3.0 type-c ports, one of which is for power. The card can be connected to a PC via USB for storage and live streaming. It is required that the connected PC runs Windows 10 64bit and contains at least 8GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 7 and a GeForce GTX 10xx card or better.

The price of the card is 400 euros. Elgato already had 4k60 capture cards, but those are PCI-e plug-in variants. Elgato is a subsidiary of Corsair.
