Elgato announces a teleprompter for webcams and cameras

Elgato announces the Prompter, a teleprompter that allows users to look directly into the camera while reading texts. As of the time of writing, the teleprompter is available for 300 euros.

The Promptly consists of a 9″ tablet on which the text is displayed and a two-way mirror to show the reflection to the user. Various cameras, webcams and smartphones can be placed behind this mirror. Elgato has Only a limited number of SLR cameras, webcams and iPhones were tested, but many more cameras are likely compatible. For example, the Corsair subsidiary supplies ring mounts of 49, 52, 55, 58, 62, 67, 72, 77 and 82 millimeters for the teleprompter, as well as a smartphone holder and webcam clamp. The Prompter connects directly to a PC and requires no external power supply.

According to the brand, the teleprompter is intended for streamers and professionals who give presentations via Zoom or Teams, for example. Elgato also makes the free Camera Hub software available to users. Allows users to set the text to appear on the tablet. The screen can also be used as an extension of the usual computer screen, for example to display video calling programs on the see-through screen.
