EA is discontinuing development of the mobile versions of Battlefield and Apex Legends. Apex Legends Mobile can therefore no longer be played from May 2. These players will not receive a refund. Battlefield Mobile should have appeared around this time.

“After the strong start of Apex Legends Mobile, the content pipeline started to fall below our quality and quantity bar,” writes Electronic Arts. The publisher says it has been working with the developer for months to improve this, but both parties now say that development should be stopped. “While this is disappointing, we are proud of the game we have released,” said the publisher.

Respawn and the Apex Legends team continue to believe in mobile games and are not ruling out new mobile games, according to EA. However, Apex Legends Mobile will no longer be playable from May 2. The game can no longer be downloaded from app stores and players cannot spend money on the game. EA says not to refund players. The mobile game appeared in May last year.

EA also says to stop developing Battlefield Mobile, to “be able to better focus on the vision for the franchise and to be able to meet the expectations of players.” In May last year, EA said the game could be released around the turn of the year. The game has been tested with players since September 2021.
