The Elder Scrolls Online is getting a major update for next-gen consoles on June 8. Players who have the game on current consoles will receive a free update for the PS5 or the Xbox Series X or S with improved graphics and faster loading times.

The update is called ESO: Console Enhanced and will be released at the same time as Update 30 which includes a new chapter called Blackwood. The update will allow PS4 or Xbox One players to play The Elder Scrolls Online for free on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X or Series S. The update is also available to purchase separately for those console users.

The graphics in particular have been greatly improved with the update. Console Enhanced can run at 60fps in Performance Mode instead of the old 30fps. Also, the draw distance has almost doubled and textures get a higher resolution. The game also uses better antialiasing that sharpens the edges of some elements such as grass, and areas of water have more natural reflections. The game’s loading times will also be reduced, the developer claims. Developer Bethesda talks about “almost halving” the loading time.
