‘Elden Ring music lyrics are computer-generated gibberish’

The lyrics from Elden Ring’s music turn out to mean nothing, a Latin student claims. Soundtrack producers would have confirmed that the lyrics are actually gibberish and were computer generated to sound dramatic and compelling.

Many of the lyrics in Elden Ring are made to resemble Latin, but according to a classical language student, the words usually don’t mean anything at all. Reddit user Magister Organi started with the song Song of Lament, which was indeed written in Latin, so writes Eurogamer. In contrast, this turned out to be the only song from the Elden Ring soundtrack to be written by a specific lyricist.

He contacted producers of other songs for further translations, after which he was informed that the team behind Elden Ring used, among other things, computer-generated sounds to create the ‘impression of an ancient language’. The few words that occur in Latin would mean nothing in the context of the numbers.

He shared his findings in a moderator-deleted Reddit post, which through the Wayback Machine is still visible. In the comments he also responds to other translations of Elden Ring songs; it would be falsely suggested on the internet that the soundtrack contains extra lore from the game.
