Elden Ring contains unused files that may indicate ‘bestiary’
Elden Ring contains files that reference a “bestiary,” a feature not available in the current game. Players would be able to look up information about the various creatures and monsters from the game in such a book.
It concerns 64 different images that were discovered by twitterer JesterPatches. Each of the images has two variants, a light and dark version, which makes a total of 128 images. According to the source, a dark image would mean that the player has not yet discovered the creature, while an illuminated image confirms that the player has encountered the monster at some point. He would not have found any bosses in the game files. So it is probably an unimplemented bestiary that only contains NPCs and normal enemies.
It is not clear why developer FromSoftware has not added any feature to the game. Elden Ring is an RPG that is packed with story elements, but leaves it up to the player to discover much of this lore. Through character conversations, cutscenes, and object descriptions, players can explore the George RR Martin-enriched story.
