EKWB recalls first revision XLC Predator coolers due to risk of leaks
EK Water Blocks is recalling revision 1.0 of its EK-XLC Predator models, as there is a risk of liquid leaking from the all-in-one water coolers. The manufacturer offers users the choice to get their money back or receive a new revision.
According to EKWB, the issue concerns the revision 1.0 models of the EK-XLC Predator 240 and EK-XLC Predator 360. These all-in-one water coolers were introduced a few months ago. The manufacturer initially thought that the problem could only affect a small percentage of PhD students and planned to solve it by contacting customers directly.
However, the problem turned out to be more widespread, which is why EKWB has decided to recall all copies of the PhD coolers. These are products that were produced in October and December 2015. The manufacturer calls on users to immediately stop using the coolers and has now released a new revision 1.1, which would eliminate the risk of leaks.
The risk of leaks is caused by a defective O-ring on the EK-Supremacy MX CPU block, which is part of the Predator Aio coolers. EKWB says it will reimburse any damage users may have experienced to their components as a result of a cooler leak. All owners of an affected unit can return their cooler and get their money back, or opt for a new unit that should resolve the issue.
