EFootball 2022 launches on September 30 for PC and consoles with nine clubs
Konami will release PES successor eFootball 2022 on September 30. The free game will then be released for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series consoles, Xbox One and PC. This is a first version of the game with nine teams, six stadiums and weekly pre-determined online matches.
Upon release, players will have access to teams such as FC Barcelona, FC Bayern Munich and Juventus, which will allow them to play against the AI or against a friend offline. They can choose from stadiums such as Camp Nou and Old Trafford. Konami also talks about weekly online events, where players use predetermined teams to compete against each other and earn in-game GP coins. Players of different console generations can play against each other.
Later this fall, the game will receive a major free update that will include the addition of the Creative Teams game mode. Gamers can put together football players and coaches, choosing from six hundred clubs and teams.
These Creative Teams can use them in one of the new match modes, such as Creative League. In this mode, players compete against other gamers and the goal is to become the best team worldwide. In addition, there are several other events, such as Challenge Events and Quick Matches, where players play against the AI or other gamers.
With this fall update, the game’s new currency model will also be available. GP and eFootball Points can be obtained through gameplay, eFootball Coins must be purchased by players. With these coins, gamers can purchase players for Creative Teams, where these football players are divided into the categories Standard, Trending, Featured and Legendary, depending on their popularity or sporting prowess.
In the future, Konami wants to make it possible for gamers to customize the teams, clothes and players. Konami also plans to add support for the PlayStation 5 controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers at a later date. In addition, the developer is looking at extra kicks such as a Power Pass and a Power Shot. Finally, Konami also wants to add controller support for the smartphone version and to enable full cross-platform between PC, console and mobile.
EFootball was announced in July as the successor to the Pro Evolution Soccer series and uses the Unreal Engine 4. At the time, Konami indicated that full cross-platform support will be built in this winter and that certain game modes will only be available as paid DLC.
