Editing Google Drive documents becomes possible without a Google account
Google is going to give owners of documents in Google Docs, Sheets and Slides the ability to share them with people without a Google account. They gain access via a pin code and can also make adjustments if necessary.
According to Google, people without a Google account will soon be able to view, comment on and edit Drive documents. The search giant says it is coming with that functionality because companies that use G Suite often collaborate with other organizations that do not always use Google accounts.
Google is starting a beta to test the functionality. If owners of the documents want to share them with people without a Google account, they will also receive a PIN via email, which they use to access the document. Whether third parties can edit the document is determined by the owner of the document.
Owners and G Suite admins have full control over the document and can revoke access from those without a Google account at any time. Companies that work with G Suite and are interested in testing the new functionality can sign up.
